Youth Karate

This class is offered to students between the ages of 8 and 12. Youth Karate includes all the basic elements of Kenpo including techniques, katas, breaking and sparing. All sparing at this level is light contact regardless of rank and with protective gear. This system offers 9 katas and 27 techniques that help develop quick thinking as well as physical and mental conditioning to prepare them for their journey into adult martial arts. While students learn self defense techniques it is unlikely that they would be able to successfully employ them against an adult attacker. For this reason students in this class are also taught "Stranger Danger" principles to include identifying inappropriate contact from an adult and effective escape tactics to get away from a larger stronger attacker. Students earn a solid belt with a white stripe to signify rank.
